Physical Education Class Requirements and Procedures

Course Overview:   Physical Education teaches students the skills and knowledge necessary for individuals to participate in a variety of activities throughout a lifetime.

 

Some activities include:

Aerobics, Archery, Badminton, Basketball, Cardio Kickboxing, Cross Country Skiing, Golf, Yogalaties, Kayaking, Lacrosse, FitnessGram, Softball, Swimming, Tennis, Volleyball, Weight Training.

 

Grading Procedures: Students will be assessed through a grading rubric, which will address skill, knowledge, personal relations, participation, and attendance.

 

~ Only a physician’s official written note will excuse a student from physical education class. 

 

~One make-up per unprepared per unit of instruction, any legal absence can be made up. 

 

~ Students unprepared for Physical Education class must report to the instructor, remain with the class, and act in a manner that is not disruptive. The student will receive 0% for any unprepared classes until the class is made up through after school remedial.

 

Behavioral Expectations:  Students are expected to report to class on time with the following: Sneakers, socks, appropriate t-shirt, athletic shorts or sweatpants (no jean shorts or spandex), bathing suit (during swim unit, girls one piece), towel. 

 

~ Students wearing any jewelry or piercings will not participate.  

 

~ It is highly recommended that a lock be purchased.  A lock is required to secure school clothes and valuables during class and to secure gym clothes when not in class.  Failure to do so may result in lost or stolen items.  THE SCHOOL DISTRICT IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY ITEMS LOST OR STOLEN.

 

~ All students will be in the locker room before the bell rings.  After dressing for physical education class, students go immediately to roll call.  The locker room area will be locked during class. 

 

~ Conduct

There will be no:  Waiting for friends in the locker room, Rough play or fighting, vulgar language, food or drink, destroying of school property including equipment.

There will be: Respect for other students and teachers, a positive, cooperative attitude that will foster the type of environment we all want at Cheektowaga Central!
